New Challenges Cover
Cover illustration for a secondary school workbook “New Challenges”, published by Macmillan.
Below is my original sketch…
But they asked that I turn down the Grrrrr on the emo grrrl, and also the hat and expression on the black guy.
I had designed the illustration to be published within their template, as per the preview below…
So I was a little surprised to see that they’d exposed the rough edges of the art on the published cover, below:
Perhaps it looked ‘edgier’. Haha… I kill me.
… they want an ‘edgier look’ but don’t want the cap on back-to-front!
(haha)
You always have to give the client what they want, but both versions look great anyway
Oh, totally. Revisions are a normal part of the process.
