Wow! I'm still reeling from the events last night... I was lucky to receive the Australian Cartoonists Association's Bronze Stan Cross ("Stanley") for Best Illustrator and the Gold Stanley for Cartoonist of the Year at the annual ACA Stanley Awards! Here's the part of the official release (brilliant art by Luke Watson):

I was nominated amongst some of my favourite cartoonists: Peter Broelman, Mark Knight, David Pope, David Rowe and Andrew Weldon.

Now, I was seriously not expecting this, and as my name was called, shock set in and I completely forgot to congratulate these brilliant cartoonists on their nominations. Guys: Please excuse this omission... I am honoured even to be considered amongst you.

I also forgot to thank the Herald Sun for sponsoring the category. Thank you!

I did, however remember thank my wife, Ash, thereby ensuring my good health for a little while longer. Here's me professing much love and respect to her (I think... I can't remember much of what I said... it's all a blur, really).

And while I'm bowing down, thank you to everyone here and at the club for such warm friendship and support. It's been an amazing year, and your support means the world to me.

I'll be writing up a full rundown of the Stanleys weekend - with lots of pics and info, so stay tuned for that sometime in the near future. I hobnobbed with some amazing people!

But for now, I need to continue pinching myself...
