Busy couple of days, with two illustrations for this week's Spectator. Originally I was commissioned to draw a beaten, but fighting Nixon cover for Tom Switzer's review of The Greatest Comeback: How Richard Nixon Rose from Defeat to Create the New Majority (by Patrick J. Buchanan). But the row over the MH17 bodies has been the major news this week, so we've run with a different cover: Abbott standing tough with Russia.
Below is Nixon, "rising from defeat", used as a spot illustration.
The mag's out today - in print and in digital form.
Thanks for stopping by,
Australian Penthouse took a short hiatus, but it's back - and a pretty classy publication if I do say so. (Of course, I only read it for the articles.) Why they'd let a schmoe like me in such a classy joint is anyone's guess, but I'm very happy to have my art included.
So here's a full-page illo on Joe Hockey's budget in the latest issue, riffing on the Hockey as Shrek motif that many cartoonists have been using...
Due to the long lead time, this was actually drawn some months before the budget, so we were guessing the issues. In reality, the toughness of the budget overshadowed everything else, but Damien Costas boils it down nicely in his opinion piece. Here it is in print... shiny, shiny!
The Brazilian World Cup issue (June 2014) is out now in newsagents across Australia and New Zealand. Grab a copy -- for the
articles illustrations, of course.

I must admit I was a little surprised that a US political magazine would do a cover on Tony Abbott and Kevin Rudd: it's not often that Australian politics is featured on the world stage.
